Among Friends Quilt Shop, established in 2003, is owned by Wendy and Scott. Although the shop has only been open since November of 2003, it currently is one of the largest quilt shops in the state of Kentucky with over 6,000 bolts of quality cotton fabrics, over 1,000 book and pattern titles and hundreds of tools and notions from which to choose.

At Among Friends you will find your favorite fabrics from the top manufacturers of quilting fabrics such as Moda, Hoffman, RJR, Benartex, Michael Miller, Free Spirit and many, many more. Fabric styles include brights, batiks, florals, novelties, asian prints, traditional prints, reproductions, homespuns, flannel, Minkee Blankee and more.

Great gift items can also be found at Among Friends. Specialty items include Heartwood Creek and Precious Moments figurines, Webkinz for the kids and more. Seasonal gift items are also available as well as fun novelty items. We also carry Legacy greeting cards and stationary items. There is something for everyone.

Among Friends Quilt Shop is currently the only Handi Quilter dealer in Kentucky. As a full-service dealer the shop is stocked with an inventory of products for the mid- and long-arm quilters. Wendy and Scott have strived to create an atmosphere that is inviting and friendly. The shop’s café provides a place where you can meet with friends and drink a cup of coffee on the house (we will make it fresh for you). You can sit and relax on one of the two leather sofas (we call that area “Husband Parking’) while browsing through the huge selection of books, magazines and patterns.

Traveling? Families are welcome at Among Friends, where there is a something for everyone. A TV complete with cable TV, DVD/VCR player and remote control is available in the Husband Parking area. Also in this area are puzzles and toys for the little ones to play with as well as videos to watch. This will occupy the family while you shop. Now, we are not implying that only women shop for fabric. We welcome and encourage our male quilters as well. Quilting should be for everyone!

The friendly staff at Among Friends is always ready to assist you with your fabric selection, answer your questions or to assist you in any way that we can. Having a problem with a project? Bring it by and we will try to help you get past your frustration and on to having fun with it again. We are here to serve.

Education is important and a great emphasis is placed on it here. With a 1,200 square foot classroom equipped with 8 foot tables, padded chairs and bright full-spectrum lighting there is plenty of room to spread out and be creative. Colorful quilts adorn the walls to create a pleasant and cheerful atmosphere that is conducive to learning. We offer approximately 120 classes per year to challenge you and help you to learn new skills and techniques or to improve your skills. There is always something new and exciting to do and learn.

At Among Friends, we want you to have fun. We have several events throughout the year to provide social experience with fellow quilters and to just have a good time. Two such events are our annual auction in the spring and our monthly FFA (Fabric Fondlers Annonymous) meetings, which is our version of “Girls Night Out.” See our Events page for more details.
