Friends Quilt Shop, established in 2003, is owned by Wendy and Scott
Vetter. Although the shop has only been opened since November of 2003,

the home to over 6,000 bolts of quality cotton quilting fabrics, as
well as a large selection of books, patterns, notions and tools.

Demo Saturdays
Our next Demo Saturday is February 6. Judy will be
demonstrating the new Creative Grid 45° Trapezoid Strip Ruler.
Judy will show you how to pre-cut pieces to make a French
Braid quilt without waste using this fun new ruler. Batiks are
a great choice for this project and our Demo Saturday just
happens to be the same day as our Batik Sale. Watch the demo,
buy the ruler and save – a discount will be given on the ruler
if purchased on this day.

February 11: One Million Pillowcase
Challenge
Calling all quilters, sewers and crafters! Among Friends Quilt
Shop and American Patchwork & Quilting are challenging you to
join our efforts to Make a Pillowcase, Make a Difference.
Every pillowcase can make a difference in our community. Our
first pillowcase challenge event will be a Pillowcase Brunch
on Thursday, February 11, from 10:00 to 1:00. During
this 3 hour event, we will all be making pillowcases to donate
to The Home of the Innocents. Bring your sewing machine and
fabrics from your stash. We will provide
patterns/instructions. It will be fun sewing together for a
good cause. Let’s use the gifts and talents we have been
blessed with to bless someone else. A light brunch will be
provided to participants.
Please call in advance to register so we know how many people
to be prepared for. This is a great way to use up some of the
fun fabrics that you already have to bring a smile to the face
of a child going through a difficult time. If you don’t have
fabrics to use, we will be offering discounted fabrics for
purchase that day to make pillowcases, but you will need to
bring your sewing machine, rotary cutter and basic sewing
supplies. |

Spring Trimester Class Preview
It’s
February which means spring is just around the corner. New
spring fabrics have been arriving and we at Among Friends are
all excited about the fresh new prints and colors. They do
make one feel happy! We all are ready for blooming flowers,
garden tea parties, sweet little bunnies and chicks, floppy
hats, jelly bags and other things that make us think spring.
Well, we have great news. All this and more will be in our
Spring Trimester line-up and you can see them for yourself at
our 2010 Spring Trimester Class Preview on Friday, February 19
– a whole month before the first day of spring! Join us and
see a Blooming Nine Patch, Cottage Chair Cozy, Nana’s Rainbow,
All Cooped Up, Amy Butler’s Blue Sky Hat, the Torii Tunic, and
so much more. Back by popular demand is the T-shirt Quilt
Class, the Jelly Bag, and our popular basic quilting classes.
You will also find an embroidery project, a 2 ½” strip quilt
and a yo-yo project plus so many more.
The 2010 Spring Trimester Class Preview will begin at noon on
Friday (Feb. 19) and conclude at 8:00 p.m. Our teachers will
be on hand from 5:00 to 8:00 to answer any questions that you
might have about the upcoming classes. Be sure to read through
the class list on the website for a sneak peak of what’s to
come. Remember, if you sign up for classes on our class
preview day, you will get 10% off the class fee. Don’t forget,
the date is Friday, February 19, and the place to be is Among
Friends Quilt Shop. |

Fabulous Fat Quarter
Sale
March Madness is right around the corner and so is our
Fabulous Fat Quarter Sale on Thursday, March 11. All in-stock
fat quarters (bundles not included) will be just $1.25 each
(maximum 125 fat quarters per person). Enjoy savings of up to
55%. We will have shopping bags available for you to use that
day. A table will be set up in the classroom where you can
have your selections counted before going to the register. We
