New
Block of the Month ~ Merry Merry Snowmen
Anne Sutton
of Bunny Hill Designs has been designing fabulous
block-of-the-month quilts for years, and her most recent is
called Merry Merry Snowmen. It is absolutely charming with
whimsical snowmen engaging in winter activities such as sleigh
riding and skiing. The fabrics used are from the Rouenneries
Deux collection designed by French General for Moda. The rich
reds and tasteful taupes are gorgeous! The quilt measures 62”
x 66”.
This will be a 10-month block-of-the-month program that will
begin in February and conclude in December. Just a $50 deposit
will reserve your spot. Then the kit price each month will be
$20. Each kit will include the pattern and fabric to make a
portion of the quilt.
December’s kit will include the fabrics for the borders and
binding. This block-of-the-month includes the patterns and the
fabrics for the quilt top, binding and an embellishment kit.
Embroidery floss and backing are not included. Fees are
non-refundable and participation is non-cancellable, which
means that you are making a commitment to purchase all ten
kits. There are NO exceptions to this rule, so please don't
ask if you can discontinue the program once you've started.
You have the choice of prepaying for the entire
block-of-the-month ($250) or paying on a monthly basis. Kits
will be available for pick up by the 15th day of each month.
Never done appliqué before? A free demonstration will be
conducted on Saturday, February 18 at 11:00 a.m. and again on
Saturday, March 24 at 1:00 p.m. to teach you how to do hand
appliqué. A limited number of kits will be available, so don’t
delay…sign up today!

2012 Mystery
Block-of-the-Month
It
is festival time at Among Friends! That is the theme for this
year’s Mystery Block-of-the-Month Club. Our two colorway
selections are called State Fair and Carnival and there are
spaces available still in both colorways, so it isn’t too late
to begin.
New for
2012...a new demonstration each month of a cool tool, a block
that rocks or chic technique. In other words, our Demo
Saturdays and Super Saturdays are being combined. That is…Demo
Saturday + Super Saturday = more fun!! In addition and in the
tradition of the State Fair and Carnivals, there will be games
and prizes, which equals more fun!! So, come one, come all to
the greatest BOM Club on earth!!!

Charm Swap
Club Coming March 3
March is lucky
charms month and we are celebrating with a brand new club. It is a
charm swap club, where club members will take a few fabrics from
their stash and turn it into dozens, if not hundreds, of different
charm squares that can be used in their favorite charm quilts.
We are suggesting a
Postage Stamp quilt for this color-themed charm swap. Pictured, as
an example, is a Postage Stamp quilt made by Audrey Smith. More
photos can be seen on her blog (click
here). In her quilt, she
used 1.5” squares. We will be using 2” squares for our charm swap.
We will also have a quilt layout with instructions for those of
you who need some help coming up with ideas.
At the end of our 6
month club, we will have a charm party to celebrate, work on our
projects and inspire each other. The more people we get to
participate in this the better. More people equals more variety in
fabrics.
Each month, you
will be given a color theme for that month and you will pull
fabrics (no more than 12) that are in that color family to use.
After the cut off date for enrollments, we will be able to tell
you how many squares you will need to cut from each fabric (one
square per club member). It won’t take much of each fabric,
keeping in mind that you can cut forty 2” squares from an eighth
of a yard of fabric and ninety from a fat quarter. We are very
excited about this and hope many of you will participate.
The enrollment fee
is $25 and the deadline for enrollment is February 29th. Club
members will be contacted by March 5th with the number of charm
square sets they will need to make. They will then have until the
24th of March to bring in their sets. As facilitators, we will
take the sets and have them packaged and ready for members to pick
up by the 1st day of April. This process will be repeated each
month with a different color family. Members will have until the
24th of each month to bring in their charm sets and we will have
them ready to pick up by the 1st day of the following month. Stop
by the shop or call (502-261-7377) for more details.
